A Friendship That Spans Four Decades
Chris and Michael first met in Detroit in 1985 — two young voices at the start of long careers in music and broadcasting. Even then, the connection was easy: a shared love of great songs, great storytelling, and the people behind both.
In February 2023, they reunited in Nashville during Country Radio Seminar week. Michael's encouragement, introductions, and support during that trip became part of the chapter that helped lead to the Donatos Music Row shows — and eventually to NashTalk itself.
Today Michael J. stands among the greats — a Country Radio Hall of Fame broadcaster whose voice has shaped the format at iHeartMedia, WPOC in Baltimore, and WMZQ in Washington, D.C. For NashTalk, he is something simpler and more personal: a friend who has quietly helped make this whole thing possible.
